The Navimow i215 LiDAR solves a specific problem: yards where GPS signal is weak or blocked. Heavy tree canopy, tall fences, narrow side yards between houses.

Where other robotic mowers lose position and wander, the i215 uses solid-state LiDAR scanning 200,000 points per second to build a 3D map that does not depend on satellite signal. It covers up to 0.37 acres, handles 45% slopes with off-road wheels, and operates at 59 dB.

Why does this mower use LiDAR instead of RTK GPS?

RTK GPS requires clear sky view for satellite positioning. If your yard has heavy tree canopy, tall fences, or narrow corridors between buildings, GPS signal degrades and the mower loses accuracy. The i215's solid-state LiDAR scans 200,000 points per second to build a 3D map that does not depend on satellite signal at all. It works just as well under a dense oak tree as in an open yard.

Can it mow at night?

Yes. LiDAR navigation does not depend on visible light, so it maintains full accuracy in complete darkness. This is a meaningful advantage over camera-only and GPS-only mowers that perform best during daytime.

Does it have AWD?

No. The i215 uses front-wheel drive with off-road wheels. It handles slopes up to 45% (24 degrees) through Electronic Stability Control and traction management, but it does not have the powered third wheel of the i2 AWD series. If you need both LiDAR navigation and AWD traction, there is not currently a model that combines both.

Is it safe around pets and children?

Yes. VisionFence combines LiDAR depth sensing with a 140-degree RGB camera to detect over 200 obstacle types with accuracy down to 0.4 inches. This dual-sensor approach is more precise than camera-only detection.
