About This Product
Break Down Thatch Without Tearing Up Your Lawn
N-Ext D-Thatch is a liquid thatch digester that accelerates the natural decomposition of thatch through microbial activity. The formula encourages beneficial microbes at the soil surface to break down the dead organic layer from the bottom up. The decomposed thatch converts into organic matter that feeds the turf, turning a lawn problem into a fertility input.
One gallon covers up to 21,300 square feet. D-Thatch is the correct solution for lawns where mechanical dethatching is impractical due to grass type, terrain, timing, or the risk of damaging stolons and rhizomes.
Who D-Thatch Is For
Homeowners with visible thatch buildup, especially on stoloniferous grasses like bermuda and zoysia where power raking risks damaging the growth structure. If you can see a spongy layer between the green blades and the soil surface, and that layer is thicker than half an inch, D-Thatch addresses it biologically.
D-Thatch requires warm soil temperatures to activate. If your soil is still below 70 degrees, wait. The microbial process needs heat to work effectively.
How It Works
The microbial agents in D-Thatch generate exothermic heat at the soil surface, which accelerates the decomposition of the thatch layer. Unlike mechanical dethatching that rips material out from the top, D-Thatch works from the soil level upward. This preserves the lawn surface while systematically reducing the thatch layer over 2 to 3 applications.
