The formula works by encouraging microbial activity at the soil surface, which generates exothermic heat that breaks down thatch from the soil level upward. The organic matter produced during this process is captured and converted into a nutrient source for the turf, turning a lawn problem into a fertility input.

D-Thatch is the correct solution for lawns that cannot be mechanically dethatched due to grass cultivar, terrain, or timing. One gallon treats up to 21,300 square feet. Best applied in late spring or early summer when soil temperatures are in the 80-degree range for optimal microbial activity.
